Question

The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000022)

I am using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC on a Windows 7 64bit laptop.

Adobe reader was working fine before the update to DC.

I recently updated my adobe acrobat reader and have been getting his error message whenever I open a PDF.

  1. I have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling fresh from adobe.com.
  2. I have tried using the scrubber from Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

None of these options have fixed the issue.  Another annoying side note, this is also preventing me from printing the pdf and we I keep getting the "Reading Untagged Document with Assistive Technology" screen even after I check the Do not show this dialog again and press Start.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Update, I removed Adobe Reader DC and installed Adobe Reader XI.  This has fixed my issue and I am no longer receiving the error message.

Thank you for the reply, I tried all three suggestions and I am still getting the same error message.

I think my only option is to revert back to an older version of Adobe Reader or use a different pdf viewer.

    Hi richardpTV,

Could you please try the steps suggested below?

1- Run as administrator- locate Reader shortcut on the desktop>right click>select Run as administrator.

2- If step 1 doesn't work, try to disable protected Mode, launch Reader>select Edit menu>Preferences>under Categories, click Security (Enhanced)>uncheck the box next to Enable Protected Mode at startup and then click OK.

    3- Relaunch Reader.

I would like to mention that disabling Protected Mode is for troubleshooting purpose only, and not recommended. Please turn the feature back on after troubleshooting is complete.

Also, try to perform the steps given in the link below for Reading Untagged dialogue box and see if that works.

read untagged document dialog box now shows up for every pdf opened..?

Let me know how it goes.

    Thank You,

    Shivam
