The documents I've created can only be read by some users

Hi,

My PDFs are generated by a third party application, a CRM that use proprietary libraries to generate the documents and send it to customers like email attachment.

The document's layout remain correct but the text seem to be written in a strange alphabet.

Users notified us about this issue starting from last week and not all users are experiencing the issue.

The CRM reseller gives me this workaround:

1- Uninstall Adobe Reader DC

2- Reboot

3- Do a new installation of Adobe Reader DC

....but I can not ask this to my customers.

What could be the problem?

What can I check?

Regards

It sounds like the CRM is using a strange font and not bothering to embed it into the PDFs (a common problem with self-rolled code).

You can see the list of typefaces required by the PDF in Acrobat's File>Properties>Fonts dialog. If there's something not embedded it will show a substitution, and the only solution is to fic the CRM code. Reinstalling Acrobat Reader won't make a jot of difference.
