"There was an error opening this document. There was a problem reading this document (109)"

Hello. I saved an illustrator file as a PDF. It's the only copy I saved. After I closed the program, I tried to open the file in adobe acrobat pro and its giving me the following message: "There was an error opening this document. There was a problem reading this document (109)". The file is about 170 MG and I don't have any other copies of it. 

I updated adobe acrobat and it still did not work, is there a way to fix this issue?

I don't see a way to fix this, especially not with Acrobat Reader. Try to open it in Illustrator again. If that doesn't work, the PDF might be damaged beyond any repair.
