When I attempt to open an .pdf extension file I get the following error - This file contains information not understood by the viewer. Is there a way to recover .pdf file?

I'm using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC  on Win 8.

Any help would be appreciated.

    I would either try re-downloading it or contacting adobe. Also you can try this program https://www.pdfrepairtoolbox.com/

    Are you opening the file directly in the application, or inside a browser window?

    Does it happen with all files, or just some?
