Please allow this to be turned OFF by default. It's annoying. If I want to use tools I will open it! Don't force users to open add-ons when they are not needed, it's weird. Thank you

While Adobe have now made it possible to close the Tools pane by default when a document is opened. For me, the big problem is that while closed, the button to open the Tools pane is a thin button, the full height of the screen, between the scrollbar and the edge of the display (a UI feature almost as bad as two scrollbars side by side). This makes it all too easy to reopen the pane accidentally.

I use the scrollbar frequently, while I've NEVER never needed anything on the Tools pane. Even if I did (and probably have at some point), it's in the menu. And if I did start using a tool and needed more regular access to it, well isn't that what the 'toolbar' (across the top) is for?!

So Adobe, if you absolutely insist on having this Tools pane, simply minimise it to an icon above on the toolbar area. A full height button is simply clutter, and substantially degrades the usability of what is otherwise a great piece of software.

Yep, does not work. Perhaps because I'm opening a file that is synced to my PC from drive? It always opens tools no matter what I do. It shouldn't be this hard to hide a menu that is unwanted. This should be controlled by the program, not an individual file IMO (not even sure if that's the case). Normally I wouldn't say anything because it's a free program and I just have to click it to hide it, but it's very silly that users have to turn something off that doesn't want to easily go away. No other program (even yucky MS Word) does this. Sigh. I need to quit being so ADD about it, but this is a bad one... thanks for the try/reply.

Had to do this to fix it: Permanently close the Tools pane in Acrobat Reader DC

    TOO OBSCURE! Jeez.
