Question

Tried to open a PDF in an email with Adobe Reader and a window tells me it can't open a doc and there is a problem reading the doc (57). Received other emails with PDFs and I can open with no problem.

I received emails with PDFs attached yesterday. I can open some normally but one says there is an error in opening the document and that there was a problem reading the document (57).  The document I have trouble with is an email forwarding an ebill which I receive monthly and usually have no trouble opening the PDF.  I have the latest Adobe Reader software, tried closing down and restarting, and cleared history.

That error is to generic to really know "exactly" what is wrong. More than likely, that file has been corrupted during transit. You may try having them send you the file again.

Actually, I had the file resent and still have the problem.

One more thing that I would try. Email can corrupt certain pdf files. Have them either Zip it before emailing it or post it somewhere secure and send you a link to download.
