Trouble in stalling Adobe Reader [Branched from an unrelated discussion]

I'm so sorry to butt in on your question, but Adobe Acrobat reader has made it impossible to just contact them. I find that appalling. I just spent 2 hours to find this where I can make a response.

I took my computer back to factory with a restart and refresh so how the heck can this still be on my computer? I really need this as I use it to read Mobi and PDF files of books. As a book reviewer, I can't do my job without it. I don't understand why this is all of a sudden so difficult to download and use. I've had it for years and now I can't download it back onto my computer.

I cannot deactivate it as it has no activation or deactivation process.

Please, can't you just fix the problem?

    You are using the wrong software. Acrobat is for pdf files only. Try either Adobe Digital Editions or perhaps OverDrive.

    You can't contact Adobe about free software, that's how they stay in business. Maybe we can help though. Please tell us exactly what happens, why you can't install, what error messages you get exactly, that sort of thing.

    Everything works fine until it's all done loading, then it says I already have Adobe Acrobat Reader, but I do not. Frankly, not being able to talk to anyone just because it's a free product leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I've found something better and I no longer care about this product. Maybe if I didn't have to spend 2 days jumping through hoops of fire and not being able to get a straight answer, I would have kept trying. But I'm done with all of this.

    I would like to thank Peru Bob for trying to help. He is the only one who even tried until now.
