Trouble opening adobe with other programs

I keep receiving an error message when a program (loan operating system and internet explorer) try to open a document in adobe or try to print using adobe. I keep getting this error:

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program a few times and cannot get past this error.

Please help!

I get the same error message when I click on links in internet explorer. So it is not just my loan operating system. It is for all links that try to open reader.

I have no problem when the doc I am opening is a pdf but it needs to be a direct file not a link.
