Unable to delete pdf

Hi;

with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 15.020.20042.8920 AGM version 4.030.00066 CoolType version 5.01.00015 base version 15.5120 JP2K version 1.002.00002.37137 (pfew!) installed on Windows 7 pro 64 bits English, a document is not released by the software after it is sent to printing. Once a document is printed from Acrobat Reader, and closed from Acrobat Reader, it is not possible to delete it, rename it etc..., with a message from Windows that it is still opened in Acrobat Reader. It is necessary to close Acrobat Reader so to be able to delete or rename this document. This issue remains true even if another document is printed.

Has anyone found a workaround to this issue? Am I alone to have noticed this issue?

Many thanks for your help.

Hi lucmorizur,

Could you please try the following steps and see if that resolves the issue:

1- Hold down the Windows and press E on your keyboard.

2- Turn off  Preview pane in the top right corner of the screen ( Alt+P )

@adoropat, this doesn't help for me. I have the same problem: opening for example two PDFs and close one of them keeps the closed PDF locked. Nether renaming nor deleting works even after waiting for >15 minutes.

Only closing AR helps to release the lock on the closed document.

Why does it bother me? Sometimes I have a bunch of PDF docs open while I'm working on complex schematics and PCB designs. After closing AR I need to restore my last opened PDFs which is not an easy task. During my work I open and close many PDF documents which all show up in the recent files list. There is no option to sort the list by 'recently closed' or similar.

I've noticed that along with the preview pane windows can sometimes be a complete pain and assert that a document is in use and therefore "locked" even if you are viewing the files as thumbnails or as mentioned you have the preview pane open.

Have you tried closing all programmes and apps down... opening file explorer and ensuring that it shows only a list view with the preview pane shut?
