Hi,

I am trying to open a PDF on my computer, however it says that I need the newest version of Adobe reader. When I go to download the newest version of Adobe reader my computer says I already have the newest version. I am not sure what I should do.

To add to what John Smith says, if you are using Google Chrome or Firefox (64bit version), you will get this message as well. They use their own pdf viewers. Removing Reader and reinstalling won't help and the message you have about the newest version being installed is probably true.

To get around this, you will need to download the pdf file first (try right-clicking the link to the file and choose to save it to your computer) then open Adobe Reader and use File>Open to open the pdf.

    Hi Caitlins7707165,

Please try uninstalling the existing version of Adobe Reader using the cleaner tool-

Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

    If its Mac, then-

    Go to folder> Applications> Acrobat>Uninstaller Acrobat

Then download the latest version through the link mentioned below-

Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions

    Regards,

    2 questions to answer

Mac or Windows and exactly which operating system

    Web browser name and version

IF Windows 10 (and maybe earlier) AND either Microsoft Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge, you will not be able to update Reader, since Microsoft has its own browsers "locked and controlled" and Microsoft decides when to update their two browsers

Search Microsoft – Official Home Page for more information
