Unable to install Reader "A newer version of the application is already installed"

I've seen that I'm not alone in getting an "A newer version of the application is already installed" error when installing Reader DC
I've tried using AcroCleaner, registering Windows Installer, installing C++ distributable, used MS Install and Uninstall support and nothing has worked so far.
I'm running Win 10 on:
Processor AMD Ryzen 7 3800X 8-Core Processor 3.89 GHz
Installed RAM 32,0 GB
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No pen or touch input is available for this display
