Unable to open file - path too long

Hallo,

 

beim Doppelklick auf eine PDF-Datei in meinem OneDrive erhalte ich diese Meldung vom Adobe Reader:

 

"Beim Öffnen dieses Dokuments ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. Zugriff verweigert."

 

Wenn ich die Datei im Adobe Reader über den Öffnen-Dialog öffne, erhalte ich diese Meldung:

 

""Der Dateifpad ist zu lang. Geben Sie einen kürzeren Dateinamen an oder speichern Sie die Datei an einem Speicherort mit kürzerem Pfad."

 

Das Öffnen der Datei unter genau diesem Dateipfad ging in der Vergangenheit fehlerfrei. Die Datei lässt sich in anderen Programmen anzeigen und ist somit nicht defekt. Ich gehe von einem Fehler in Adobe Reader Version 2021.005.20060 aus.

 

Ich bitte um Fehlerbehebung durch ein Update. Vielen Dank!

LongPathTool worked well for shortening long paths before opening project files

Hallo,

wenn die Pfadlänge mehr als 225 Zeilen beträgt, kann der Adobe Reader eine PDF-Datei nicht öffnen, und sie scheint auch auf eine Umbenennung nicht zu reagieren. Ich konnte sie aber in einen höher liegenden Ordner (mit kurzem Namen) verschieben und dort umbenennen; vielleicht ist das sogar nicht nötig. Die PDF-Datei konnte dann geöffnet werden. In PDF24 konnte die Datei übrigens direkt geöffnet werden.

The problem seems to be still existing 😞

"Beim Öffnen dieses Dokuments ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. Zugriff verweigert."

But in Firefox the .pdf is displayed.

Just after writing this I found a solution.
For me worked setting LongPathsEnabled to 1.

    Hi Warg,

     

    Thank you for reaching out and sorry for the trouble.

     

    The error genrally appears if the file location path or file name contains more than 225 characters. 

    The maximum filename length (and pathname length, ie filename plus the name of the path where it is saved) is  determined by the OS and not Reader or any other application.

    Could you please confirm what happens when you try to save the file with shorter name?

    Are you able to open it then? If you have not tried it yet, please do.

    Would it be possible to share the original PDF with us on which the issue occurs.

    Hi

     

    We have the same Issue. Every other Application PDF24, Office etc. has no Problem. So the answer, that this a OS related Problem is not true in this Case.

    Please make a fix for this Problem.

      Der beschriebene Fehler tritt beim öffnen desselben PDF mit Adobe Photoshop 2024 nicht auf.
