Unable to open password-protected PDFs on Mac

I receive confidential documents in the form of password-protected PDFs regularly for work, but I have been unable to open password-protected PDFs on my Mac Sonoma 14.2.1 even with the correct password. Due to confidentiality, I am unable to request for decrypted PDFs. 

I have already enabled native settings in Preferences > General. 

Please advise a solution to this.
