Unable to open PDF documents

I am suddently unable to open PDF documents after I have saved them using Windows 10.

I have uninstalled and re-installed Acrobat Reader DC several times to no avail.  I can save MS Word to PDF, open a PDF attachment from an email in my browser (Chrome) but once I save it to my laptop it cannot be opened.

Help please!!!
