Unable update or uninstall Adobe Acrobat Reader DC

I downloaded AcroRdrDC1502320070_en_US.exe to update 15.020.20042.  I received the error "Windows Installer does not permit patching of managed advertised products..."  I tried to uninstall my current version 20042, but received Error 2753. The File 'acrosup64.dll' is not marked for installation.  I did some searches and ran AdobeAcroCleaner_DC2015.exe and restarted my laptop.  This seemed to work, but when I checked Programs and Features, the 20042 version was still installed, and will not uninstall or update.  I have not found a solution and will appreciate suggestions. Thank you.

I ran Revo Uninstaller on 03/04/2017, and it indicated there was an update.  I clicked Download, and it updated.  Then I started Revo Uninstaller and clicked Uninstall on Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.  It failed with the same error as Win 10 uninstall.  However, it had an option to scan for items still on the laptop for Reader, which I clicked.  It came up with a list, and I clicked Delete.  It came up with another list, and I clicked Delete.  Revo said some of the items would be deleted when a restart was done.  After the restart, I checked the installed programs, and Reader was no longer listed.  Then I successfully installed the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

Tried to open a pdf file, but received:  Fatal error Acrobat failed to connect to a dde server

    Looked up the error:  https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2202937

This gave a link to download the cleanup program, and gave a link to download the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

When I ran the cleanup program, I did have to use System Explorer to stop AcroRd32.exe before the cleanup program could complete successfully.  I did re-download the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, installed it, and opened a pdf file successfully.
