Unauthorized Updates

I have been receiving "failure" notices while I am online in the midst of other tasks indicating that an unauthorized "update" of Acrobat Reader DC has "failed".  After each such "failure" notice I have reviewed the root directory of the involved physical computer and found a system protected garbage directory has been placed into my root directory, without my consent, containing 2015 dated Microsoft files.

This unauthorized update procedure is problematical in several ways.  First it is disruptive to have those "failure" notices interrupting the uses that I intend for MY computer.  Second it is majorly invasive to have any such attempt to modify previously functional software without advising me in detail and IN ADVANCE what is proposed to be altered so that I would have the opportunity to TEST THE PROPOSED MODIFIED SOFTWARE on a secondary physical computer to determine *whether* it is acceptable or desirable to allow *ever* on my primary physical computer..  In this case, it appears that the "update" has entirely to do with CELL PHONIES and CLOUD OPERATIONS, both of which are absolutely banned from my office under any circumstances.  Hence the abusive intrusion had nothing of potential benefit to my computer in the first place and would never have been allowed even if I had been asked *whether* to do the "update".  Thirdly the garbage file inflicted on my root directory required significant effort to delete it from MY COMPUTER so that it would discontinue interfering with normal operations.

So my question is WHY HAS SUCH AN UNAUTHORIZED "UPDATE" been inflicted on me?  That is especially relevant since none of what that "update" appears to impact has any conceivable usefulness for MY COMPUTER.
