Not really. You can pay yearly if that helps. Keep in mind that there are various tools we cold be talking about. There are the pdf services (export, create...etc) that can do a lot of things but you'll notice that there's an edit feature. That one is a little misleading. It doesn't unlock anything in Reader. It just sends you to the purchase area for Acrobat. So if you want to edit pdf's along with createing, exporting...etc. Acrobat can do all of that.
