Updating free acrobat reader

I have the free version of acrobat reader DC and when I tried to update my version, it gave me an error message 1722.

I have windows 7 professional version 1 and I took off the reader and tried to install it again and it wouldn't install at all.  Gave me a message that I already had the new version on my machine.

This is the exact error message that I got:

There is a problem with this Windows Installer package.  A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected.

Action Install Web Resources, location c:\Program files (x86)\Acrobat Reader DC|Reader\AcroCEF\RdrServices Updater.exe, command:

      19.008.2008018.0.11.20058.0

Please advise on what I should do to get my updater to work...I just want to update the program.

I also deactivated my anti virus program and that did not work either.

I have not had any problems with programs updating with the exception of Adobe Reader DC.

Thanks.

Hi Martinf,

We're sorry for the delayed response and inconvenience caused, please reboot the machine once and use Acrobat cleaner tool to remove any corrupt or conflicting installation files of Adobe Reader Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Reboot the machine again and install Adobe Reader from ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/AcrobatDC/1900820071/

Let us know how it goes and share your observation.
