Using different keyboards in typing sticky notes/comments

When I try to add sticky notes and comments to a pdf in Acrobat Reader in another language other than English, it does not work. I can use other keyboard in other programs, but not in Acrobat Reader. No other program has this problem. Is there a setting that I need to change?

I am commenting on a document in Latin, and I am trying to type macrons above vowels. I am using a keyboard that has the International Phonetic Alphabet to accomplish this. Microsoft Word has no problems but Acrobat Reader does not recognize any characters much less the macrons.
