Version numbering scheme

This is not a question, but a suggestion. This product's version numbering scheme is very confusing and should be simplified. Currently, the version number is a code of YYYY.nnn.nnnn, where Y is the year and n is a number. 

Use case: It's not intuitive to ask someone to download version “YYYY.nnn.nnnn"
