I am trying to download a sewing machine embroidery pattern to be transferred to my flash drive.  I get the error message "Adobe Acrobat Reader could not open XXXXX.vip because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged.  Any suggestions on what I am doing wrong????

    Hi Becky,

I do not think that this forum's competence lies in embroidery file formats. I would guess that sewing related sites could help much more.

This said, I googled and found this (without any warranty of it's fitness for your use): Embird - Embroidery Software for Computerized Machine Embroidery . Also your sewing machine manufacturer may offer or recommend some software to be used.

The problem I see in your configuration is the file association of Acrobat with VIP files. Acrobat cannot open VIP files, so it should not be associated to those files.

And a last tip: Download the file to your disk and transfer to the flash drive. You do not need to pass through any program beforehand, except if you will modify the file/design somehow.

    Hi Rebbeca,

.VIP are those files usually contain embroidery information such as size, stitch pattern, colors, user notes, etc. which are used by these sewing machines. These files are what help users sew a pattern they want to sew.

Adobe Acrobat Reader is a PDF supported software, that allows you to view the .PDF files. You can't open .vip files using Adobe Reader.

For that you need to have .vip file supported software to make it work.

Would you mind giving me a recommendation on .vip software? Thanks.
