Where's the little corner box in my thumbnail view?

I used to have a litte reference corner box appear on the images of the thumbnails of the document I was viewing. This helped reference where in the sequence of pages I was scrolling through in my main view. Now it's gone. How can I get it back to help me track the pages I'm looking at?
