Why aren't Adobe reader annotating tools working? I can't get the toolbar to appear

I downloaded Adobe Acrobat Reader, again today. It lets me read but it won't let me access any of the editing tools. if I click "Tools" in the Adobe bar and then "Customize Toolbars" I can see them all; I can check the boxes that I want them; but they won't appear and I can't use them. What should I do?

    Hi Katherinee2017,

    As you said that you are trying to access the Editing tools is that mean are you trying to use the Edit feature of Reader DC?

    As Reader DC is a free application it doesn't give you Edit feature, it gives you very limited access of tools.

    What you are referring above could you help us with the screenshot of the tools list that you see?

    If you meant to say the tools options are stuck or frozen then you may close the application completely.

    Reboot your computer and try again.

    Still no success, uninstall the application that you have installed and re-download it through Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions

    Let us know the update on this.

    Hi Akanchha,

    This is exactly what I needed. I should have been more clear--I just need to add comments to pdfs and I couldn't do that before. I got rid of that application and downloaded this one. This is great! Thank you.
