Why is Converting files so temperamental?

When trying to convert a PDF file the process will not consistently work (3 of 11 files converted at most recent attempt).

Have removed and reinstalled the application and the error still persists, as well as rebuilding the user profile.

What else can be done to resolve the issue?

What do you use? Acrobat Reader can't convert files.

What application are you using to do this conversion? As mentioned, Reader can't do it and you posted in the Reader forum.
