Windows 10: Acrobat Reader can't read files from a Junction

I added a new hard drive to my tower and then mapped it to a junction under my current home directory, (e.g. C:\Users\hstuk\Work  is a junction to Volume{e5dcc3de-0a3a-11eb-a3e2-08d23e25765e}\) which all works just fine, until I try to read a PDF in Acrobat Reader DC - it throws an error 'There was an error opening this document. Access denied.'

I can open the PDF in Microsoft Edge and other readers just fine, but I have to copy the file out of the junction folder if I want to open it in Acrobat. Anyone else see this?
