Question

"XML Parsing Error" When opening PDF Document

Try to open a PDF document and get the error below. Note that, though it says "Acrobat", I'm using Reader.

Since it's an XML parse error, I'm assuming this was an XFA doc created and converted to PDF using LiveCycle. Why am I getting this error, and how can I remedy it?

You should report it to the creator of the file. They need to fix it and issue a new version.

And yes, this is most likely an XFA form, but it wasn't "converted to PDF". XFA forms are a form of PDF file in the first place. And Reader and Acrobat are now the same application, basically, so don't worry about that title.

Well, it looks like the XFA file has an invalid use of the same attribute somewhere in the template or data DOM. There no way to tell you how to fix this, without seeing this form.

Would it help?  I can send you an official SECNAV Form 5512 that this error occurs in.

If this is not your own form you better contact its author. However, does this error have any negative impact beside the informative message box?
