acrobat xi standard crashes when opening multiple files

I recently installed Windows 10 Enterprise (64 bit) on Dell Optiplex 9010 PC with 16 GB RAM as a clean new install.  After re-installing my Acrobat XI Standard registered version that came with my Fujitsu scanner, I am UNABLE TO OPEN MULTIPLE PDF FILES AT THE SAME TIME due to crash.

I ran the update - currently running 11.0.15 version.  I also changed the Screen Reader Options / Page vs Document to "Only read the currently visible pages" but is still crashing.

Does anyone know of another setting that needs to be looked at when running Windows 10 so that I can open multiple files at the same time without crashing?

Hi,

Yes,Launching acrobat With Shift key disables third party plugin on your system .

It seems that any of plugin is causing this issue.

YatharthS, I found the solution in another post.

Solution:
...\Adobe\Reader 8.0\Reader\plug_ins\
there are 3 files you should delete (or maybe just rar them so you still got them in case something goes wrong)
Accessibility.api, MakeAccessible.api, ReadOutLoud.api
(if that gives troubles, just delete the files with the same name and .xxx where xxx stands for a certain language too)

Thanks for the post, it worked for me. In my case, these files are located in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat 10.0\Acrobat\plug_ins, so others should be aware that they will need to look in the folder appropriate for their version (and doesn't seem like it matters whether it's Reader, Standard, or Pro). Given the age of this post, it makes sense that Adobe has yet to fix the problem, status quo for them...

Hi alexg67238987,

Follow this thread to reset the preferences for the Acrobat software :- How to reset Preference settings in Acrobat.

If issue still persist then :-

* Launch the application holding 'Shift' Key, check whether it works or not.

* Check with the compatibility mode, right click o Acrobat Pro icon, then from Properties > compatibility > uncheck the compatibility option & Run the acrobat as administrator.

* If issue still persist, Repair the Acrobat Pro through : C:/ >Program files (x86) > Adobe > Acrobat Pro DC > Stet up files > Open the Folder having the Alpha Numeric letters > Run the installed with name 'AcroPro.msi'

Follow on screen instructions & Repair it.

Hi Yatharth, I followed step by step as described.  The only option that worked was when running using the SHIFT key as it disabled some reading settings but unfortunately, I am then not allowed to save file to Word or Excel.
