Acrobat XI Update Will Not Complete

Hello:

I asked this question on the Forum earlier but no one answered - please, someone from Adobe reply. This is a purchased product but just because I bought it more than 90 days ago, I shouldn't have to pay to update it like Adobe wants me to! I'm using 11.0.0.

Thank you in advance.

Hi TheRealArtfulDodger,

Considering this error, I would recommend you to refer the below mentioned KB doc link:

Error 1310: "Error writing to file: C:Config.Msi..." | Adobe Creative Suite 4

Let me know if that helps.

Hello, again. Anubha:

Well, I was finally successful in updating Acrobat XI Standard to version 11.0.14! However, it wasn't at all straight forward! Here's what I had to do:

1. After you suggested a link I looked at it - I looked at the location of the file in question and it was always read only! However, there was no way that I could force it to stay read/write! I am usually pretty good at those kinds of things but not this time!

2. I decided to uninstall Acrobat completely!

3. When re-installing, I decided to allow Acrobat to install in its default location. I do not like doing that and I avoid it if at all possible (I don't know why except I have a dedicated drive for installing programs to and I prefer to do that vs. installing to the C: drive.). But, that did the trick; I executed the 11.0.14 patch and it executed perfectly! The error message part of the 11.0.14 must not have noticed that it could not write the file and just kept trying.

However, having said all of this, it would seem that perhaps there is a fault somewhere in the Acrobat patch system that sometimes has a problem with installs in other than the default location. But that's a problem for another day!

Thank you so much for helping me - this is the first time since I bought Acrobat that it has been up to date! So many thanks!

Hi Louis Ayers,

You can update Acrobat XI from the Help menu to run the latest patch i.e. 11.0.14

It does not require you to pay anything for that.

Hello:

That is what I am attempting to do - see below:

Unfortunately, it will stay at this stage for hours - it never finishes.

Any ideas?

Thanks for answering.

Hi Sparky,

Thank you for your response.

I would recommend you to restart your machine and install Acrobat XI updates manually from here:

For Windows: Adobe - Acrobat : For Windows

For MAC: Adobe - Acrobat : For Macintosh

Let me know if that is helpful.
