When opening a document in Acrobat Pro, I get an error message and then it crashes. The error code is 131:4

I've had acrobat pro on my mac since 2012. Suddenly, when I try to open a document in acrobat, I get the error message with error code 131:4, and the document crashes. What to do?

Hi Mirinda Kossoff,

Please try to uninstall Acrobat Pro and restart your system.

Then try to re-install it from here: Download Pro or Standard versions of Acrobat DC, XI, or X

Let us know if issue still persists.

@, there is no acrobat cleaner for mac

if that fails, uninstall and reinstall
