Hi Community,

when embedding the editor and working with profiles (e.g. for Commenting), will the profile be send to Adobe? Does anybody know where the Adobe Document Services are hosted?
Background: As far as i know, it's not allowed to send user-related information to non-chinese servers.
Are specific Adobe Servers available for this Usecase?

Best regards,
Sebastian

Sorry for the delay. I had to wait for our legal team to chime in. This is what they say...

The terms and conditions that govern access and use of PDF Embed API are the General Terms of Use (https://www.adobe.com/legal/terms.html) along with the Additional Terms for Adobe Developer (https://wwwimages2.adobe.com/content/dam/cc/en/legal/servicetou/Adobe-Developer-Additional-Terms_en-US_20230822.pdf).

Your understanding of Section 20.1.b is correct.

However, our Additional Terms for Adobe Developer also prohibits access of our NA server from China under Section 6.17.

6.17 Regional Service Limitations. Unless use in a Restricted Country is specifically authorized by Adobe, you are not permitted to use any Developer Tools in any Restricted Country or to enable users in a Restricted Country to use the Developer Software. “Restricted Country” means mainland China, Russia, and any other country where access or usage is restricted by local laws or is otherwise restricted pursuant to section 6.5 (Trade Controls).

PDF Embed API runs entirely client side.

Hi Joel,

thanks for your quick response and answer. I'm wondering, because in the Terms and Conditions (https://wwwimages2.adobe.com/content/dam/cc/en/legal/servicetou/Adobe-Developer-Additional-Terms_en-US_20230822.pdf)  under 20.1.b is stated the following:
"Content and Usage Tracking. You acknowledge and agree that we may collect information about your
content and usage of Document Cloud SDKs or APIs, including personal information, and may use such information
to maintain security, monitor performance, and otherwise improve the quality of the Document Cloud SDKs or
APIs offered. "

In my understanding Adobe may anaylze the content and therefore Editors, commentators, annotators, etc, because the profile information is part of the file (i guess).

Can you give a statement regarding the terms or forward this to someone who can give me more information?
Thanks in advance,
Sebastian
