links not working in PDF (PDF Embed API)

For all links in my PDFs, once clicked, I get the "Open Web Page" pop-up but once I click on the "Open Link" button, the pop-up goes away and that's it.  The page does not go to the link that was clicked nor does it open in an new tab.

Is it possible that you have pop-ups blocked?

Yes - it turns out the default Chrome pop-up blocker is getting activated for ALL links within the Embed API.
But the same links work fine when they are linked directly from the HTML page.

Is there some way in the Embed API config options to somehow bypass the browser pop-up blockers?
