Links to email not working in API

When you hyperlink a mail ID in Indesign, convert it to PDF, and render the PDF on a web page as API, the email link does not work. When you click the email link you get an alert:

Do you want to open this link: mailto:abc@hpe.com?, when you click yes, you are taken to a 403 Forbidden page and the address bar shows: https://documentcloud.adobe.com/view-sdk/2.22.1_2.8.0-5d611c6/nullabc@hpe.com.

Ideally, it should prompt user to open the link in email app. What is the resolution for this?
