PDF Embed intermittently fails since upgrading to the latest verison

Within the last month we upgraded the PDF Embed component to the new version in our React project.  Since we've done that, we now get an intermittent failure where the component simply does not load and we have a blank space on the page where its supposed to appear.

In the Chrome tools, on the network tab, we can see that there is a red request to iframe.html with our site url as a parameter.  The status of the request simply says 'cancelled'.

It seems to fail about 50% of the time.

Has anyone else out there encountered this?
