Station One autos
Hi everyone,
I'm working on a project where I have POV footage filmed through the windshield of a car driving on a highway. My goal is to add futuristic tracking boxes or HUD-style graphics that appear to follow vehicles, lane markings, and other objects in the environment.
I started with After Effects' 3D Camera Tracker, but the results weren't very stable. It seems to lock onto windshield reflections and small dirt spots instead of the road or surrounding scenery. I also experimented with Mocha, but since this isn't a flat surface, I'm not sure it's the right tool for the job.
I'm wondering what workflow professionals typically use for this kind of shot. Would you recommend:
- After Effects Camera Tracker with some preprocessing?
- Mocha Pro for certain elements?
- Cinema 4D, Blender, or another dedicated tracking application?
- A combination of manual tracking and motion tracking?
The camera is mounted inside the vehicle and mostly moving forward at highway speed, so there isn't a lot of side-to-side parallax.
Any tips, tutorials, or best practices would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
