Question

What is the difference between viewer.js and main.js for the view-sdk

I see in the documentation examples with both:

https://documentcloud.adobe.com/view-sdk/viewer.js  &

https://documentcloud.adobe.com/view-sdk/main.js

It seems like the later documentation and examples refer to the view.js.  But swapping my library from main.js to view.js doesn't work?  I do have some examples running under the main.js, but I can't get others to work.  I was just trying to swap the view sdk.

What am I missing?  Is the clientId specific to one or other?

Thanks for any help

A few weeks we released an update to PDF Embed, what we are calling the 'modern' viewer. We described this here:

https://developer.adobe.com/document-services/docs/overview/pdf-embed-api/modernviewer/

In theory, you can just switch, so if you can share an example where it didn't work, I can take a look.

Hello,

The last sentence in the description irritates me a little.

"Developers using the main.js script in their websites will continue to see the legacy PDF viewer and all PDF Embed API functionality would be available to them in the legacy viewer."

Does that mean that if I use the main.js, I don't have to switch to the viewer.js? Or does it mean that the functions remain in the legacy viewer until the changeover, but that I should change over anyway?

Thx 😉

Basically - the old viewer works, but is not going to get updates going further. You don't have to switch this second, but you want to get to it.
