Question

Create document and allow user to template

Is there a way to upload a document through the api and then embed a hosted version of that document where the user can template that document (aka add signature spots, etc...)?

In Adobe Sign languate I think I would need to POST /libraryDocuments but when I tried that I wasn't able to get/find an embedable link anywhere so I'm worried I'm going down the wrong path.

Additional note, this question should probably be asked in the developers forum.

Hi There,

You can create a library template from a transient upload through the API and then get the "Authoring"/EDIT view of that template, yes.

You need to understand that you are always doing everything (even in an API context) as a user in the account. When making API calls, you are either the "token owner" or, in the case of a group/account scoped token, impersonating one of the account/group users by passing userid: or email: in the x-api-user header parameter.

That being said, the steps would be:

  1. Upload a transient file to use for creating the template.

  2. Use the transient document ID from the response to create a new library template.

  3. Use the POST /libararyDocuments/{libraryDicumentId}/views call to get the "EDIT" view of the newly created library template.
