Acrobat Pro DC annoying gliche

I have been happily selecting and copying text from a pdf document and pasting into word.  Now it seems that now my annual account has renewed Adobe and I am locked into another 12 months I can no longer select a selection of text, copy it and paste into word as I have done up until a few weeks ago.

 

I have this annoying small box at the bottom left hand side of the pointer.  How do I get rid of that box please, as it appears to be the issue.

If you can help me find how to remove that small box a the bottom of the arrow it would be much appreciated.

Not possible. It appears when the cursor is not above text, to indicate that you can click and drag to select an area.

Oops.... it should read "annoying small box at the bottom RIGHT hand side of the pointer."
