Adobe Acrobat Reader DC - Fill & Sign Problem

Good evening,

I have the following problem (it happened to me three times already):

  1. 1. In my Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (2015 Release | Version 2015.010.20060) I open a PDF form (non-interactive).
  2. 2. I fill it out by means of the tool “Fill & Sign”.
  3. 3. I save the document using “File” –> “Save as...”.
  4. 4. I close the document, then I reopen it and everything is OK.
  5. 5. I switch off my laptop (Windows 10).
  6. 6. Later I switch it on, then I open the document and some of the text I filled out is missing! It wouldn’t be such a problem because I can retype the text, but when I do so and then save the document as usually (“File” -> “Save as...”), the text I retyped is NOT there again when I reopen the document!!!

I’d be grateful if you could help me to resolve the above-mentioned problem. Thank you in advance.

Unfortunately this is a known issue that Adobe is looking into and actively working on.  There are several other Forum threads about this:

In several of those and Adobe employee Sandeep has requested details from the customer, maybe you could provide this information so they have more to go on for the investigations:

1. Version of your Acrobat/Reader.(Go to Help-->About Acrobat/Reader)

2. Does your workflow involves filling data and signing across multiple pages at the same time?

3. What are the exact steps you are following? It would be great if you could share a video of the same.

4. Does this happen with every PDF file or with some particular PDF file? It would be great if you could share the file with us.

thank you very much for your reply.


1. I use Adobe Acrobat Reader DC 2015 Release, Version 2015.010.20060 (my operating system is Windows 10 Pro – Version 1511, OS Build 10586.164).

2. Iʼm not sure whether I understand your question properly, but if you ask whether the PDF files I filled out had more than one page and thus whether I input text fields (using the Fill & Sign tool) in more than one page, my answer is yes.

3. The exact steps I followed are already described in my original question (the one that is above your response).

4. It happened to me with all the PDF files I tried to fill out by means of the Fill & Sign tool. So far, I have tried to fill out three different PDF files in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (2015 Release | Version 2015.010.20060) and the problem always appeared. I can send you the PDF file I was working on recently as an attachment to a private message – just let me know if I should do so.


Is it possible to recover somehow my lost work?

Thank you so much for providing all the details. Since you have mentioned that some of the text gets missing and not all therefore to narrow down to the root cause, it would be great if you could share a video of the exact steps that you are performing and the PDF file as well.
