Question

Adobe Acrobat Web Unable to Overwrite SharePoint file in Document Library

When I open a .pdf file that is stored inside of a SharePoint docuement library, add a page to said file, and save the changes, it is not overwriting the file. Instead, it is saving a new copy back to the SharePoint appended with a " 1". ("OriginalFileName.pdf is turning into "OriginalFileName 1.pdf")

This is a functionality that we had approximately 2 weeks ago, but now it no longer works. The only workaround I have been able to find is using the desktop application, while disabling new Acrobat.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Hi tanner_2602,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry about the trouble caused.

Please share the screen recording of the workflow for opening the PDF from SharePoint and making the changes. Also, share the current version of Acrobat and the OS version number you use on the machine. We will get it checked.

Thanks,

Meenakshi

I am using the web version of Acrobat, so I am not sure how to check what version it is on. I am using Windows 11 Enterprise 26100.4656, and I am using Chrome Version 139.0.7258.139.

I have used both managed and unmanaged machines in our environement, as well as multiple browsers all repeating the same issue
