Auto-Error from Adobe: "Error opening this document. The document could not be found."

I am getting an error from Adobe, which opens by itself and gives the message "There was an error opening this document. The document could not be found." The problem is that I am not trying to open a document. And when I open another document, this error pops up and seizes the program, so I have to click on it to go away, sometimes 10 or 15 times in a row.

Anyone know what's going on, and why Adobe thinks it needs to open a specific document, which is never listed? How do I get this to stop? How do I figure out what document it's trying to open?

Thanks,

Hi Kelly28501328of10,

Thank you for reaching out.

This seems to be weird behavior. Generally, the error appears when you try to open a corrupted PDF.

Try repairing the installation. Launch Acrobat and go to Help > Repair Installation (in Windows only).

If the issue still occurs, try reinstalling the application. Remove the application and run the cleaner tool (https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html).

Reboot the machine and reinstall the application from the following help page:

Acrobat: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html

Acrobat Reader: https://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

Let us know if the issue still occurs.

Thanks,

Meenakshi
