Converted file is just nonsense characters

I have tried the cloud based version of Abobe convert and it NEVER works everytime I try to convert a PDF to Word it always give me nonsense characters in Word that is entirely unusable.  Should I just go buy the desktop version and forget all the this cloud based stuff?
