Question

Could you please help me convert a pdf file to a word file?

I signed in to Adobe.com and exported the Adobe file; I tried converting the file several times.  The resulting word file is gibberish.  I tried signing in with a different browser but that didn't work either.

Please help!!

    Hi cparramore,

I'm sorry that your conversion didn't turn out as expected. What happens when you disable OCR as described in this document: How to disable Optical Character Recognition (OCR) when converting PDF to Word or Excel.

You may be encountering a font-related issue, and disabling OCR could help pinpoint that.

Sara, I disabled the OCR and tried to convert the pdf document to word, but it still does not work.  What else do you suggest?

    Hi Charlotte,

When you open the PDF is Reader, and choose File > Properties, what is listed for Application in the Description box? This is the application that created the PDF file. You can run into problems with conversion when the PDF isn't well-formed (which can be the case with the various third-party apps that create PDF files).

I would love to take a look at one of your files. Would you be willing to post one to Acrobat.com and send me the link to it so I can take a peek?

    Best,
    Sara
