Question

Does highlights added with the Acrobat Reader Mobile app in a pdf document get preserved when converted into a Word document through the ExportPDF service ?

Hello,

The Acrobat Reader Mobile app on Android is great especially the highlighting tool. It is smooth and fast. I'm considering staying with this app.

Now I've just seen that Adobe is proposing a service to convert PDF documents into Word document through ExportPDF.

Does the Word document I will get once the convertion has been processed will have the highlights perfectly preserved ? Does it works fawlessly or is this random ?

Or maybe this function is not included ?

Thank you if someone is able to clarify this,

Regards,

David

Hi David,

Glad to hear that you're enjoying Acrobat Reader for mobile! The optional ExportPDF service does convert PDFs to Word format (and several others), and if the PDF was created in Acrobat, you can expect a very clean conversion to Word (with comments, highlights, and all). However, if the PDF was created by a third-party (non-Adobe) app, it might not contain the information necessary to ensure a flawless conversion.

Please let us know if you have additional questions.

Sara

So it brings another question yes. I'm not sure I'm getting it.

My workflow would be as follow : the pdf would be first created from Office Word which allow to export a word document in the pdf format, then it would be sent to Acrobat Reader for mobile, edited with my highlights, saved (so in a sense created anew) and finally processed through ExportPDF to get it back to Word with the highlights. I'm not sure I'm in the case you were mentioning above. Is this workflow reliable or do I have to seek for another solution ?

Thank you again,

David

Hi David,

That workflow should work fine for you. One note, however. PDF is considered a "final" format. So if Word is really the format that you need the document in, the extra steps of converting to PDF, and then back to Word may be unnecessary. (There are apps, such as Google Docs that allow you to edit Word docs via mobile.)

That said, if you're interested in the ExportPDF online service, you can subscribe to it here: https://cloud.acrobat.com/exportpdf (or you can get via in-app purchase in Reader for mobile).

Best,

Sara
