Export pdf - each pdf slide covers a word page. How to change?

When I export my pdf to word with adobe export pdf each slide covers a whole word page. How can I change this so that the slide covers a smaller area of the word page?

Also, are you using export pdf option in Adobe Reader or online in a web browser?
