GIBBERISH CHARACTERS WHEN PRINTING

Randomly, I get spurious characters when I print a document. Sometimes, the page is full of unintelligible gibberish. Sometimes, the gibbgerish is interspersed with copy that is correct. Windows XP; IE,Chrome and Adobe REader X. Is there a fix for this issue? Thank you - Dwalt49
