Help needed to convert MW files

Did you not get my question? I have an I-mac OSX Vs. 10.8.5, 3.2GhzProcessor. Why can't I convert to PDF. My Microsoft Word document should automoatically work!!! I just paid for a annual subscription... This is my first try at it and I am not a very happy camper!!!
