Sorry to hear the inconvenience caused.

As you said that the conversion and download both working fine via web but not with Adobe Reader, so is there any specific error message while downloading the file after conversion?

You must check whether the application is up to date or not, Open Acrobat Reader>Help>Check for update.

Or if that doesn't work, then you may uninstall the application using cleaner tool- Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs 

and reinstall it through- Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions
