How to avoid combining PDFs into a portfolio? It is confusing

I am not sure how this portfolio setting suddenly appeared when I attempt to combine multiple pdf files into one.  The combine files process before was fast and easy. HELP me understand how to use this portfolio setting.

    Thanks for reaching out. Could you let us know whether you have been using the Acrobat Desktop app or the Acrobat Web app?

    There has been no sudden change introduced by Adobe in this workflow. If possible, please share a short video of the workflow so we can check exactly what is happening.

     

    In the meantime, please check this screenshot and try uncheck the option. If that is what you can see at your end.
