How to convert PDF file to word/Excel document?

Do I have to purchase a service? If yes, how?

PDF page content can be exported to Word or Excel using:

Acrobat XI (purchase of a license - perpetual or subscription - is required).

    Or

One of Adobe's online subscription services at Acrobat.com.
(Look over ExportPDF and PDF Pack.)

I'm using Adobe reader XI, is this the same as adobe XI?

If yes, how to convert the file?

No Adobe Reader and Acrobat are not the same.

Reader is a free PDF viewer provided by Adobe.

Acrobat is not free and is a robust PDF processing desktop application.
