I can't countersign using my signature once the 1st signature has been validated

I've been avoiding posting this question for months but it's an ongoing problem.  I received a form that had validated signatures.  The signature block is highlighted, but I can't enter anything into the block.  Normally, I use a stored signature.  Any ideas???
